Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
Position Start Date: 2017-2018
Position Description: Nature of Work: To teach Career Education classes and to help determine appropriate placement for Lexington students in the private and public sector for Internship and Community Services. Qualifications: NY State certification required. (Teacher of the Deaf or Career Technical Education.) Knowledge of career education/guidance requirements of NYS Part 100. Experience teaching adolescents preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including proficiency in English and American Sign Language (ASL) Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Powerpoint Knowledge of a date tracking system for students’ Career Educational portfolio. Responsibilities: Teaching Middle School and High School Career Education classes. Supervise and evaluate students at Internship/Community Service placements. Responsible to assist in monitoring transition planning/services for students with IEPs Working with teachers to develop and implement students’ IEPs Knowledge, develop and ability to apply data analysis and evaluation techniques to inform instruction and future transitions. Knowledge of current trends and best practices in vocational community education. Demonstrate expertise in the design and evaluation of career education curriculum services for vocational and community education.
